United Way’s Top Accomplishments in 2024

  • March 5, 2025

At United Way, our goal is to mobilize our volunteers, partners and donors to make our city a better place to live, work and grow.

Armed with our network of community partners, we create solutions to some of our community’s biggest challenges in 2024, including:

  • We announced 71 nonprofit organizations that were selected to receive United Way funding through 2030. These organizations include those that provide resources to prevent child abuse, improve childhood learning, promote economic mobility and more.
  • 2-1-1 received 161,738 calls from residents in the community, connecting them to programs that can provide assistance with housing, child care, job training and more.
  • 203 local child care centers using the Alamo Quality Pathway, a partnership between Workforce Solutions Alamo and ESC-20, achieved Texas Rising Star (TRS) certification and improved the quality of education they provide young children.
  • 23,000 individuals used VITA to help them receive $31.6 million in tax refunds, saving $5.2 million in tax-prep fees.
  • Our volunteer initiatives led to the distribution of more than $10,000 in children’s coats to families, $40,000+ in school supplies to teachers in Harlandale and East Central ISDs, and more than $100,750 in basic necessities to people in need. Approximately 8,793 volunteers provided crucial assistance to nonprofit organizations throughout the community.
  • In total, $46 million was raised to support during the 2024 Community Campaign, including support from 396 community partners.
  • With the Frost Boost campaign, Frost Bank matched $1.6 million in donations during the 2024 United Way Community Campaign, bringing in a total of $3.2 million.
  • The Frost match campaign also secured 45 new corporate partners and inspired 5,000 first-time donors to give $100 or more.
  • Methodist Health Care Ministries stepped up for their community with a $100,000 match for the health care sector.
  • Women United raised a record $294,000 at the Power of the Purse auction, which is being used to fund the United Way Child Care Scholarship.
  • Emerging Leaders added 716 new members, a United Way membership group of young professionals who are dedicated to giving back to the community.

The generosity of our donors, volunteers and impact partners makes achievements like this possible. Through our collective impact efforts, people in our community now have the tools they need to thrive in all stages of life.

Thank you for uniting with us in 2024. We look forward to the long-term change we can create for all in 2025.
