HELPING THOSE IN NEED

Our annual Shoebox Project is an effort to provide shoeboxes filled with everyday toiletries to be distributed to many of our nonprofit partners.

Basic comforts such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and other personal-care items are a luxury for many San Antonio children, veterans, elderly, homeless and vulnerable populations. Change a life today by participating in the Shoebox Project.

Our 2024 project was a tremendous success with over 5,000 shoeboxes full of everyday toiletries delivered to people in need.

The campaign ran from April 3 – May 30, 2024 and had the following:

  • More than 282 volunteers
  • 25 local agencies signed up to distribute boxes to their clients
  • Over 5,000 total shoeboxes were given out
  • A total monetary value of $100,750 in everyday essentials was distributed

United Way is seeking donations of everyday essentials to provide to those in need. Donate as an individual or host a supply drive with friends, family or your workplace or community group.

 

ITEMS NEEDED

Adhesive bandages, baby wipes, conditioner, deodorant, hair comb/brush, hand sanitizer, lotion, shampoo, sanitary napkins/liners, soap/body wash, tampons, toothbrush, toothpaste.

 

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED

Food, medicine, mouthwash, razors, sewing kits and used or opened items.
