United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County is responding to the current economic uncertainty and strategizing on how to best support the community.
United Way is actively working with nonprofit partners to adapt to the current crisis:
Meals on Wheels San Antonio is facing unexpected challenges. United Way has reallocated funds to ensure uninterrupted meal delivery to vulnerable residents.
Dual Generation and other United Way-led initiatives are being reviewed for flexible funding options to support families impacted by financial uncertainty.
In partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank and Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland, United Way launched a year-long series of food distributions for military families. Each event provides 80 pounds of food to approximately 150 families, addressing the needs of the 1.4 million military members, veterans, and their families who rely on vital benefits.
Community members in need are encouraged to call the United Way 211 Helpline, where trained specialists can connect them with available resources for food, housing, and more.
“We are confident that our community can navigate this difficult period with resilience and care,” said Chris Martin, President and CEO of United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County. “Now more than ever, it’s vital that we come together to support those whose lives are being disrupted.”
Each year, United Way invests $5 million into its Safety Net Impact Area, partnering with 23 local nonprofits to address urgent needs such as job loss, food insecurity, and housing instability. This year, that commitment is more critical than ever.
United Way will continue to monitor community needs and collaborate with residents, nonprofits, and corporate partners to provide meaningful support.
