Originally founded roughly 80 years ago, Jefferson Bank was created to provide quality banking in the underserved Jefferson district of San Antonio. Decades later, they have expanded significantly in both their core business and their impact on the community.
For more than 30 years, Jefferson Bank has been a valued and deeply engaged United Way partner. Through its support of United Way initiatives, nonprofit partners and the annual community campaign, the bank and its employees continue to help children, individuals and families throughout San Antonio and Bexar County. Over the course of the partnership, Jefferson Bank and its employees have contributed more than $2.1 million to United Way. Their commitment remains strong today. In 2025, an impressive 91% of Jefferson Bank employees participated in the United Way campaign. Their impact extends well beyond financial contributions. Jefferson Bank employees consistently give their time and talents to serve the community. Each year, Jefferson Bank employees give back by volunteering in United Way signature projects like our Shoebox Project, a basic necessities drive; the Write Start Project, a school-supply drive that supports teachers; and volunteer days at United Way impact partners.
In 2025, Jefferson Bank successfully navigated an important leadership transition when longtime President and CEO Danny Butler retired after 26 years of unwavering service to both Jefferson Bank and United Way. During his tenure, Butler served for several years on the United Way Campaign Cabinet, supporting multiple community campaign chairs and helping advance United Way’s mission.

Today, Jefferson Bank’s legacy of philanthropy continues under CEO Mitchell Walker and President Reagan Winslow. With their leadership and the continued dedication of Jefferson Bank employees, the organization remains an engaged, hands-on partner committed to creating meaningful and lasting change.
Jefferson Bank demonstrates what is possible when a company and its employees unite around a shared commitment to their community. Year after year, they continue to show up, give back and strengthen San Antonio in meaningful ways, proving once again that United is the Way.
