CPS Energy continues to serve as one of United Way’s most-dedicated corporate partners in the community. In 2025, they made a meaningful difference through generous giving not just monetarily but with their time and compassion for others.

It started with their CEO and President Rudy Garza, who co-chaired the 2025 United Way community campaign with his wife Emily Garza, assistant principal at Holy Spirit Catholic School.

Under Rudy and Emily’s leadership, United Way raised an outstanding $46.8 million in 2025. This tremendous campaign result will be invested by United Way into local organizations who provide resources that help San Antonio’s young children, students and families succeed.

Compassionate philanthropy like Rudy’s is infectious and CPS Energy employees also took action in 2025 to make our community a better place to live, work and grow. CPS Energy staff donated their time and energy by volunteering at several United Way impact partners throughout the year. Their employees also helped assemble and distribute $86,000+ in basic necessities through United Way’s Shoebox Project.

CPS Energy employees volunteered at numerous United Way events, including the Shoebox Project.

CPS Energy had three of its employees served as Loaned Executives during the 2025 community campaign and have representatives on United Way’s Safety Net Impact Council as well as the Emerging Leaders and Women United membership groups.

“I give to United Way because I feel it is always good to give,” says Jessica, a CPS Energy employee and 2025 Loaned Executive. “I have been blessed and I would like to bless anyone in need.”

In total, CPS Energy raised an amazing $727,000 for United Way in 2025, a 22% increase over their previous year’s total. CPS Energy also received United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s 2025 Outstanding Partner Award for their tremendous efforts to energize their employees to give back and fuel a brighter, more hopeful future for all.

Thank you Rudy Garza, CPS’s Loaned Executives and the entire CPS Energy team for demonstrating the impact that organizations and individuals can have when we unite together.
