Regional law firms joined United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County in its mission to make our community a better place to live, work and grow at United Way’s General Counsel Breakfast on September 11. Their collective generosity at the event led to a record-breaking $257,000 raised that will be invested by United Way into services that uplift our community’s young children, students and families.

“We are so grateful to the Law Community, the Co-Chair’s and the many sponsors who’s commitment and generosity made this record-breaking year possible,” said Chris Martin, President and CEO, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.

Over 80 staff from 28 law firms attended the event, learning more about United Way’s impact in the community. Attendees also heard from Jeremy, a San Antonio resident who achieved sobriety and is now thriving in his daily life as a single father with the support of United Way. “I believe when individuals are changed, families are healed. When families are healed, communities grow stronger. And when communities grow stronger, we create a cycle of hope that reaches even further,” Jeremy said at the event.

This amazing contribution from the law firm community was made possible by event co-chairs, Shanna Ramirez, Chief Legal and Ethics Officer for CPS Energy; and Yun Au, General Counsel, H-E-B. Additional thanks goes to the event sponsors, including Baker Botts, Norton Rose Fullbright, Perkins Coie, Vinson & Elkins, LLP., Dykema, Haynes Boone, McCall Parkhurst & Horton LLP., Akin, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP., and Hogan Lovells.
