FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –Over the past year, United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County and JPMorgan Chase have teamed up to distribute more than $150,000 in technology to local families and nonprofit organizations serving the community. Hundreds of laptops, webcams and computer monitors have been donated to families served by United Way’s Dual Generation Initiative and United Way’s Community Partners.

These donations are critical for people in the community as access to technology and online connectivity is a necessity to maintain stability. An estimated 20% of households in San Antonio are disconnected which can lead to adverse health outcomes for families, decreased job opportunities and learning loss for children.

“On behalf of JPMorgan Chase, we are thrilled to provide this gift and empower the community through technology, fostering innovation that advances our coming generations. As a resident of San Antonio, being able to provide a new home for our donated items to my own community is one of the most rewarding missions in my 20 years of service at JPMorgan Chase,” said  David Beck, a remote workplace and sustainability leader in Workplace Technology Services at JPMorgan Chase.

Local nonprofit organizations are using these items to provide critical assistance to people in the community by helping individuals obtain their GED, degree or certification; offering parent education programs and by providing robotics and coding education for children.

Organizations like AVANCE SA, Family Service Association’s Teen Tech Center and Uvalde Center, Restore Education, Judson Early College Academy and American Indians in Texas and more have benefited from JPMorgan Chase’s generosity with this difference-making technology.

“We are so grateful to Chase bank for their donations and this ongoing partnership to help close the digital divide in our community,” said Gabby Herrera, Corporate Relationship Manager for United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County. “We look forward to continuing to distribute technology to our partner organizations and local families so they can have the resources they need to maintain stability and reach their full potential.”
