FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s annual “Project Warmth” coat drive was a huge success, with over $10,000 in children’s coats being donated by the public. In total, 915 children between the ages of 0 – 17 received brand new coats and winterwear. Not only do these coats provide relief from the cold for these children, it also gives their caregivers peace of mind during the holiday season.  In addition to the coats, over $5,500 worth of food kits were given out to the families that received coats.

United Way originally called on the public to donate 700 children’s coats when “Project Warmth” launched in October. Support for “Project Warmth” was overwhelming, with 200+ more donations than requested making a meaningful difference for even more kids.

Residents were able to donate coats online or by dropping brand-new winterwear off at Starbucks and Comet Cleaner locations throughout the city.
