United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s 12th annual Shoebox Project was a huge success, with more than $60,000 in basic necessities donated from the community. This was made possible by the generosity of the public and 30 corporate partners who donated or volunteered.
Items including baby wipes, combs, shampoo, soap, deodorant and others have been given out to people in need throughout the community.

200+ United Way volunteers packaged festively decorated thousands of shoeboxes, each filled with daily essentials like soap, deodorant, baby wipes, combs, shampoo, tampons, toothbrushes and more. These shoeboxes have been given out to families served by United Way’s Safety Net Impact partners. In total, 2,985 shoeboxes stuffed full of daily essentials were given out this year to 15 nonprofit agencies.

Not having these daily essentials can have a negative impact on the mental and physical well-being of thousands of residents.
