FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County strongly encourages residents experiencing or those who have loved ones experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms to dial 2-1-1 anytime but especially during PTSD Awareness Month in June.

There are numerous resources from United Way partner agencies and other organizations that can provide crucial services to people experiencing PTSD. 2-1-1 Call Specialists can help you navigate the vast but complicated network of resources available in Bexar County to connect callers to behavioral health services, one-on-one counseling, group and family counseling and parental support programs that best fit your needs.

While 2-1-1 is not a crisis line, callers will be provided information on where to find life-changing and free services near them based on the area they live in.

People calling 2-1-1 can also be directed to organizations offering important assistance programs like prescription drug cost assistance, utility and rent assistance, affordable health clinics, financial literacy classes, family programs and much more.

When calling into 2-1-1, military members, veterans and their families are connected with United Way’s Mission United Military peer-to-peer Navigators. These Navigators can assist active-duty, veteran and military families in finding health and human service programs that cater to military needs in San Antonio.

As always, calling 2-1-1 and selecting Option 1 to speak with our San Antonio call center is completely free, anonymous and available 24/7/365. Spanish language and line language translations are available as well.
