Every day, people in Bexar County struggle with health issues that may seem impossible to solve.
Moms who can’t afford, or don’t have access to, prenatal care. Families who struggle to provide mental and physical healthcare for themselves and their children. Senior citizens who trade off paying utility bills to purchase life-saving medicine. Or people who need food.
These are tough problems that threaten the future of local children, individuals and families, and the COVID-19 pandemic certainly has complicated things. That’s why United Way’s Ready Children Impact Council is working to ensure that all children grow up in safe, stable and nurturing environments, are healthy in mind, body and spirit and are curious learners progressing toward their full potential.
Poverty, lack of access to prenatal care, quality childcare, domestic violence and substance abuse impair our families’ abilities to nurture, protect and prepare their children for school and life. At United Way, we’re helping mothers access prenatal care, transportation, insurance enrollments, mental health and other supports for basic needs.
United Way does more than raise money. We are the problem solvers, the hand raisers. We are the game changers. We surround our community’s most critical problems and collaborate with our nonprofit and community partners to offer hope and help where it’s needed the most.
We are building a stronger community, but there’s still so much more to do. We’re working to help everyone grow strong and thrive. Get involved today.
