This year continues to look different in almost every aspect of life, education being one of most impacted. Virtual learning took precedence when COVID-19 hit.
Developing and learning are a priority in a young child’s life so why does education have to stop when there isn’t a teacher or classwork? KLRN’s “Play & Learn” offers young pre-schoolers the opportunity to grow while they learn.
Play & Learn is “learning time anytime.” This program brings parents and their children together to assist children in their educational growth. Teachers spend one-on-one time with parents to inform them of ways to help further their child’s growth and help them offer a quality educational experience. Families are provided children’s books, take-home activities, and materials that they can use in their own homes. Play & Learn not only assists in educational growth but relationship building with their peers. Here is what some participants have to say:
- “…As I am growing into my parenthood, [virtual learning] helps me prepare our daughter as she continues to grow.” – Olivia
- [The best part was] “the bonding that my daughter and I had.” – Meghan
- [I appreciated] “how interactive it was for my little one; we liked the hands-on crafts and making new things… Also, the tips on behavior.” – Tricia
Strong educational experiences and a supportive environment set a student up for success. United Way and its nonprofit partners work tirelessly to ensure children, students and their families have the resources needed to reach their full potential.
