Free Tax Assistance Program VITA Available In San Antonio and Fredericksburg Now

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

 Individuals and families who earn up to $55,000 per year can take advantage of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), a free tax preparation service, at 11 locations in San Antonio and one in Fredericksburg until April 18.

VITA connects residents with IRS-trained and certified tax preparers to file their taxes at no cost at all. Last year, VITA helped more than 24,000 individuals save $5.5 million in tax-preparation fees and connected filers to $39 million in tax refunds.

This free tax preparation service is brought to the community through a partnership between United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, the City of San Antonio and Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc. Additional support is provided by H-E-B, Broadway Bank, Frost Bank, River City Federal Credit Union and the Internal Revenue Service.

“When we unite like this, we create meaningful change for our community’s families, students, children and people in need,” said San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “That is the value of VITA.”
