United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s 2025 Project Warmth coat drive was a huge success, with more than 650 families receiving children’s coats and winterwear at no cost to them. More than 1,400 brand-new children’s coats were donated, with a total of $30,000 in winterwear being distributed to families in the community.

With the recent icy San Antonio weather having passed (and hopefully no more freezes this season), these coats provided much-needed relief for parents and their children.

Families enrolled in United Way’s Dual Generation, Eastside Family Resource Center, Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support (HOPES), Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) and Service Members, Veterans and Families (SMVF) initiatives received coats well before the cold weather arrived in December 2025.

If you are in need of support due to weather-related conditions, whether it be for when San Antonio receives freezing weather or the sweltering 100-degree summer days that the city is most known for, please call the 211 Helpline and select option 1 to obtain information on what community resources are available near you.
